The history of William Richardson and Co. of Darlington, who made the Scampston conservatory, is proving to be really fascinating. More on that in a while. Meanwhile I am working on a list - or several lists - of Richardson glass houses, surviving and demolished, and looking for plans and photographs. I'd really appreciate information about any Richardson survivals - they can often be identified by the name cast into the ironwork. This example is from Beningbrough near York.

  1. Hi,

I found one of these in my granddads shed. It is similar to this but a slightly different style.

It has W RICHARDSON DARLINGTON engraved on it and I wondered what they are exactly?

    Thanks

  2. Hi. Just wondering if you are still collating a list of Richardson conservatories. And if you have found any in Darlington. We have what I thought was the only one which dates from the 1890s. Thanks. Paul Bruce
