Local school children together and volunteers from The Croft, Camphill Village Trust have been learning and enjoying the art of garden design in the Walled Garden the last few weeks.
School children from West Heslerton CE Primary School, Settrington
All Saints CE School and Rillington Community Primary School, were asked to
consider the colour, height and overall shape of their flower bed designs.
Each
bed includes around 250 tulip / daffodil bulbs with five or six different colours.
The schools each visited the walled garden on three separate days throughout
November to plant up one of their chosen design. A
fourth bed was planted by volunteers from The Croft, Camphill Village
Trust, as part of their weekly volunteer gardening work at Scampston.

The tulip beds should be in flower next spring, for the children and all visitors to the gardens to enjoy.
Volunteers from
The Croft - Camphill Village Trust help every week with a range of work in the Scampston gardens and parkland. In November, this included helping prepare the circular beds for planting as well as planting up their own tulip bed design.
